Space... the final frontier

In lieu of anything more interesting to say, I'll just post this:

For some reason, I find the idea of finding another "earth" deeply intriguing. How will it effect mankind to know that we are, indeed, not alone in the universe? What would it be like to stand on alien soil and look up into a sky not our own?

Ya know, I didn't comment about this on madsci.us, but I should have. I honestly don't believe them till they can actually see light that bounced off the object. (Don't believe it till you see it.) and it still may be a steaming pile of ^$&##y data even then.

I'm hoping for some visual confirmation myself, but in meantime, I can dream, right?
